Sadism of Malayalees evident in Premam trolls, says filmmaker

Trolling everything under the sun is what Malayalees are upto these days. When the Telugu film industry decided to remake Mollywood megahit movie ‘Premam’, Malayalees looked forward to it with skyrocketing expectations. But, they were disappointed when they felt performances of those Telugu actors came nowhere close to the likes of Nivin Pauly, Sai Pallavi etc.

So, the Mallu troll brigade targetted Telugu hero Nagachaithanya with funny memes and comparisons with Nivin Pauly. Heroine Shruti Haasan also came under sharp attack.

Malayalees are of the opinion that in the original ‘Premam’, the College teacher’s character done by Sai Pallavi was closer to reality. But, when Shruti stepped into the shoes, the teacher started resembling a baywatch model and thus far removed from reality.

Now, Telugu director Chandoo Mondeti in an interview given to a newspaper, has opened up about his feelings. First of all, he said that Telugu industry too have good content and ‘Premam’ is remade for the Telugu audience. Also, he accused Malayalees of taking sadistic pleasure through rude trolls aimed at Shruti Haasan.

“Shruti is part of our film and it is good for us in trade circles. Those who compare her with Sai Pallavi have no idea about the nature of her character in Telugu. In the remake, she is playing a strict teacher and this wasn’t the case in Malayalam”, he added.
