Actor Dileep's police custody extended
(Angamaly, Jul 14, 2017):: A local court here has extended the police custody of actor Dileep, arrested in connection with the actress assault case, till 5pm Saturday.

Dileep was produced before Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court as his two-day police custody came to an end on Friday. The court will consider his bail on Saturday.

Dileep had sought bail, claiming that he was innocent and an attempt was being made to malign his image.

Special public prosecutor A Suresan, who sought extension of the custody, said the charges on the accused were serious. The interrogation of the accused is yet to be completed. The case has sent shockwaves across the State, he said in the court.

Senior advocate K Ramkumar, who is representing the actor, opposed the findings of the police and argued that all charges raised against Dileep were baseless and should be dismissed.

On February 17, a popular Malayalam actress was abducted while she was travelling back home after a shoot. Some men got into her car near Kochi and allegedly sexually assaulted her. They also took photos and videos of the act to blackmail the actress.

Reportedly, the prime accused Pulsar Suni carried out the assault on the instructions of Dileep, who is said to have held a personal grudge against the actress. Dileep insisted that he did not know Pulsar Suni, but a letter written by Pulsar Suni and a selfie leaked to the media showing the accused on the sets of the actor's film ‘Georgettan's Pooram’ that went viral on social media contradicted his claims.
