Munnar issue: CPI steps up legal efforts

(Idukki, Dec 6, 2017, DG): CPI has stepped up their legal war against land encroachments in Munnar. CPI executive member P Prasad has filed a petition with the Chennai Green Tribunal to raze down all illegal buildings in Munnar.

In his petition, he says that political motivation in solving the issues in Munnar is seriously lacking. adds that these encroachers are ruining Munnar and sought strict implementation of forest and environment acts in the tourist destination.

Meanwhile, Devikulam MLA S Rajendran has criticized the petition in sharp words. "People who file such petitions have no idea about Munnar. Do they have courage to ask residents to leave the land ?", he asked in a private television channel.
