Shuhaib murder: Read Congress and BJP leaders' responses

(Kannur, Feb 15, 2018, DG): Congress and BJP leaders on Thursday responded to the latest political murder in the state where a Youth Congress worker was hacked to death.

Youth Congress State President Dean Kuriakose demanded that Communist leader EP Jayarajan's personal assistant should be interrogated. "The MLA's PA is closely related to the crime. The police is very clear about this, but still no action in sight", he added.

Congress leader K Sudhakaran alleged that Shuhaib had faced murder attempts inside the sub-jail long ago. "Jail DGP Sreelekha's crucial intervention saved his life back then. He would have been the victim of CPI(M)'s knife that day. Thanks to Sreelekha", he added.

BJP State President Kummanam Rajasekharan questioned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's alleged silence over the issue. "Political murders in Kannur are done with his knowledge. He announced ex-gratia for some one who was killed in Haryana. But, he chooses to keep mum about murders in Kannur", Kummanam told media persons.

The incident took place when Shuhaib was having food from a roadside eatery. A four member gang who came in a vehicle conducted the unexpected attack. They hurled a bomb and created panic before hacking Shuhaib.

The seriously injured youth was rushed to a private hospital in Kannur. Later, he succumbed to injuries while being taken to another hospital in Kozhikode. In the incident, four Congress members were also injured.
