Red alert issued in Wayanad
 
Thiruvananthapuram: District collector has issued red alert in Wayanad district due to heavy rain. According to the reports, the district received a rainfall of 398.71 in last two days.

The death toll in the district raised due to landslips and mudslides. Low lying areas such as Vythiri, Lakkidi etc are sub merged in water and places like Kuppadithara, Kalipetta, Kottappura and Valad in Mananthavady are among the worst- hit regions.

People living in the hilly regions have been alerted against the landslips. People are trapped in roads including the Thamarasery ghat. Fore-force, police and public representatives are carrying out the rescue operations. It is reported that army, navy and NDRF forces will join the rescue operations soon.
