Railway tender case: CBI raids Rabri Devi's residence, questions Tejashwi Yadav
(NEW DELHI, Apr 10, 2018):The CBI this afternoon conducted searches at the Patna residence of Rabri Devi, wife of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, in connection with a Railways hotel tender case, reported ANI.

Lalu's son Tejashwi Yadav was also questioned about the case which is to do with alleged irregularities in awarding a contract for the upkeep of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotels in Ranchi and Puri. Tejashwi was reportedly questioned for four hours.

This is the case that JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar cited for his party breaking away from the 'mahagathbandhan', or 'grand alliance' last year, which in turn led to the exit of the RJD from the Bihar government.

The corruption case against former railway minister Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi and others is to do with the alleged grant of illegal favours to a private hotel company through IRCTC, when Lalu was railways minister from 2004 to 2009. Also named in the case are PK Goyal, a former managing director of IRCTC, and Sarla Gupta, the wife of one of Lalu's close aides Prem Chand Gupta.

The CBI alleged that Lalu favoured a private hotel company for a contract in exchange for prime land the company sold at below market price to a 'benami' company owned by his associate Sarla Gupta.
