(Oct 24, 2016, DG): A sound body equals a sound mind, a maxim we often listen to in daily life. All of us would want to hit the gym, sweat it out and get into shape. But, not many are able to materialise this dream. And the reasons are nothing but laziness and weariness emerging out of the monotonous nature of daily exercises.

This is perfectly normal as repeating the same exercises everyday would bore you to death. But, do not give up as there is definitely hope. Several mobile apps are out there to lift you from boredom and make the whole episode interesting !

Virtual Runner

Treadmill running is part of usual workouts. But, there is always the issue of monotony that irritates fitness freaks. Treadmill is stationary and spending one hour in a corner, looking at the wall, would make you hate it, for sure. This is where 'virtual runner' comes to your rescue. If you have an iPad, download this one as it will show HD videos of world's best jogging tracks on tablets. The video's speed can be adjusted with your speed. You can select any backdrop ranging from parks, waterfalls, beaches etc. Peculiar sounds from these places would accompany the visuals. It would really transport you to a virtual environment.

NFL PLAY 60

This app would enable you to enjoy exercise like a game. It was developed by American heart association and National football league. Transforming you into a virtual character is what this app would do. You will find yourself as a video game character. Switch on the app and run or jump holding mobile phone in your hand. And the character in the game too would follow suit. The app is available for free in Apple and Android devices.

Human

It is said that exercise should be done for atleast 30 minutes a day. Walking, running, jumping, dancing or anything of your choice would do. So, this app will come in handy as it helps you calculate the total time you exercised and whether it is enough etc. This gives you oodles of motivation to set a target and work towards it. You can choose between dance or weight lifting. This app is currently available in iOs only.
