(Kochi, Oct 28, 2016, DG): It was a 'WOW moment' for Keralites when their eyes accidentally fell upon New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum in the Cochin international airport.
Initially, nobody recognised the man who walked briskly through the corridors of Nedumabssery airport's newly built terminal. Soon, they were in for a great surprise when the man who set cricket pitches on fire, smiled and waved, sans a tint of headweight.
Airport officials and policemen huddled around the star and soon requests poured in for selfies and autographs. The Kiwi star refused to turn down his fans and didn't hold back from exchanging pleasantaries and handshakes with all. "Love and encouragement from Indians have always motivated me", McCullum said as cameras flashed.
The elephant statue kept in the Kerala airport caught his attention. After speaking with people in the airport for hours, he stepped into the car, only to get down in no time to pose for more selfies.
Despite the presence of a long list of who's who with New Zealand PM John Key, it is the batting legend on whom the limelight chose to flash on. McCullum, who is counted as one among the highly succesful captains of New Zealand, currently plays for Gujarat Lions in IPL.
