Vidya doesn’t want to play Kamala Suraiyya ?

(Jan 12, 2017, DG): Malayalam film maker Kamal's upcoming project based on the life of late writer Kamala Das (Madhavikkutty) is reportedly stalled.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, who was getting ready to play the role of Kamala Das, has said no to the movie. Several rumours are doing the rounds regarding the actual reasons behind Vidya's decision.

According to Vidya's spokesperson, she was interested in the story, but turned unhappy when the script's final version came out.

But, rumour mills point to the ongoing controversies surrounding Kamal as the reason behind Vidya's decision to back off. The difference of opinion between Kamal and Vidya in Narendra Modi's matter, the director's alleged controversial stances on National Anthem are said to have played a role.

BJP leaders in Kerala have called Kamal a traitor and accused him of working with terror outfits.

However, Vidya Balan's spokesperson rejects all these as mere rumours and asserts that her decision is purely 'professional' and not an emotional one.
