Stormy Assembly session ahead in Kerala
(THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, march,05,2017):The coming days of the budget session are likely to be stormy with the Opposition firm in its stand on the removal of Finance Minister Thomas Isaac and demanding a fresh budget under a new Finance Minister following the alleged leak of budget papers.

Stating that it was a Constitutional lapse, the Opposition said the Finance Minister has no moral right to continue in office. The Opposition is likely to step up its agitation against the government. Sources said the government would not be allowed to conduct the business of the House in a smooth manner.

The Opposition is likely to make the session stormy right from the question hour. A decision regarding the mode of agitation would be taken at a meeting of the leaders of the UDF constituents on Monday morning. Almost all the Opposition members are for staging widespread agitations over the issue.

Even the general discussion on the budget from Monday to Wednesday is likely to be disrupted. The budget speech on Friday was thrown into disarray with the Opposition boycotting its presentation alleging leak of crucial budget papers on social media and in a section of the Malayalam press.

The Opposition leaders met the Governor and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention for the resignation of the Finance Minister and also for a fresh budget under a new finance minister. They also met the Speaker as the budget papers were the property of the House and it was the responsibility of the government to protect its sanctity.

However, the government maintained there was no leak in the classified budget papers. Only the budget highlights prepared for the benefit of mediapersons were shown on social media, it said.
