IES Result: Know Which Departments are for your Engineering Specialization
IES (Indian Engineering Services) is a competitive examination, conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services. The Examination includes a written examination followed by an interview for the personality test.

The recruitment of qualified candidates is made under the following categories:
Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Civil Engineering

Engineering graduates in India consider it to be the most sought-after career which promises better future prospects.

IES application form will be filled online. IES written Exam is an offline exam which is scheduled in two stages (Prelims for 200 Marks) and (Mains for 300 Marks). People who qualify prelims appear for Mains exam. Interview and personality test is the last step of the selection process.

IES Result is released in the form of category wise and stream wise cut-off. It is the minimum score required to clear that particular round. And is calculated based on total number of students who appeared for IES exam, number of seats available, previous year cut-off, difficulty level of question paper, marking scheme adopted for that year.

Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

Scope: In an era where we are surrounded by electronic gadgets like camera, phones, medical devices etc with advanced VLSI chips. The sector of electronics and communication is growing exponentially because of this increase of need.

Average Salary: Indian companies offer salaries in the range of INR 30,000 – 60,000 per month.

Electrical Engineering

It is an increasing growing field because of the areas such as nanotechnology, biotechnology and biomedical engineering. Even the wireless communications and mobile technologies are becoming the need of the hour. Due to which after doing electrical engineering you can have a variety of choices to choose from for employment.

Average Salary for an Electrical Engineer is Rs 350,084 per year.

Civil Engineering

In accordance with the statistical research it is estimated that by 2020, 4 Lac civil engineers would be required in India. However currently in India only 60,000 skilled civil engineers are there. This highlights the fact that qualified and equipped civil engineers will be required in our country.

In India, a freshers’ civil engineer can expect between INR 30,000 to INR 40,000 per month depending on rank and seniority.

Civil engineers usually work in areas such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, laboratories or offices. The work requires such engineers to spend a fair amount of time outdoors. Supervisors as an example are required to spend their entire day at the construction site.
Top companies which offer recruitment to civil engineers are: Larsen and Turbo, TATA, Hindustan Construction Company, Gammon, Afcons, Punj Llyod, IVRCL.
