Cristiano Ronaldo likely to leave Real Madrid over unfulfilled promises

(Madrid, June 07, 2018):The widespread rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid are refusing to die down.

According to media reports in Spain and Portugal, the striker has already made up his mind to leave the reigning European champions and his decision is "irreversible."

The reports also suggest that the reason behind Ronald's shocking decision is his strained relationship with Real president Florentino Perez. According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, Perez's unfulfilled promises and "lack of recognition" is the reason behind current doubts about his future at the La Liga club.

The newspaper also reported that Ronaldo would prefer to stay in Europe after leaving the 13-time European champions and Italy, France or England could be his next possible destination.

According to another report, Ronaldo became more unhappy after his agent Jorge Mendes met with the club on Wednesday.

The rumours over Ronaldo's exit from the Spanish club began after the 33-year-old hinted at a possible exit from Real moments after lifting their third straight Champions League trophy in Kiev, with a win over Liverpool.

"Right now we need to enjoy ourselves but in the next few days I'll give an answer to the fans who have always been by my side. It was beautiful to be at Real Madrid," the Portugal forward had told television network beIN Sports after the game.

"The future of any Madrid player is not important, we have just made history."

Ronaldo, who is Real's all-time top scorer, was asked to clarify his comments but continued to give ambiguous answers.

"I don't have any doubts, it's not important, I have to rest now, go and meet up with the Portugal team and in the next few weeks (I'll make an announcement)," he added.

Similar reports of Ronaldo leaving Real had emerged last year as well after the Spanish club beat Juventus 4-1 in the final. Portuguese newspaper A Bola had reported that the forward wanted to leave the club as he was not happy with how he had been treated by Real.

Ronaldo's desire for a new contract was believed to be behind last year's stories and he has still not signed a new deal at Real, who he joined from United in a then world record transfer worth 85.5 million pounds ($113.77 million).
